Badlands National Park, South Dakota through Nebraska into Denver, Colorado
I flirted with double digit longitude but never got there. Dipped my feet into the Central Time Zone briefly but to my amazement I made it all the way into Denver despite spending the morning and afternoon driving around the Badlands park.
Skies were darker and it was cool today along with some pretty high winds. A few sprinkles but no major downpours.
After the badlands I shot down 83 straight through Nebraska until I hit 80 then caught 76 to Denver and am now on 70 which will eventually become 50 (called "The Loneliest Road in America" in the Nevada stretch) which will take me through Tahoe and near home.
I'm glad I made it here. I didn't want to be stuck in the middle of the country and have to rush back. Now I can take my time and have the endgame plan all set. Should be easy going from here on out (not that it hasn't been going so far). This will be my only major stint on the Interstates since I left I-80 in Winnemucca, Nevada. I'll probably parallel 70 for a while on some secondary roads. Maybe get another night of camping in. Maybe two!
I'll update with google satellite links when I get a high speed connection and some more time.
