Mount Hood Perspective

August 10th, 2006

Checked into yet another Motel 6 and fixed Yet Another Ever Flushing Motel 6 Toilet. That's two in a row. They should just let me stay for free and maintain the room.

Idled about until the noon checkout then did a forest road route up past Mt. Saint Helens. By the time I got to the best vantage point the clouds were too thick for any view to speak of.

Saw an overturned schoolbus pointed downhill in the middle of an extremely long, steep and curvy stretch of road. An old wreck apparently, probably a few days by the looks of it. I only hope attorneys aren't debating the binding of a parental release form. Didn't look good. I can see how losing brakes in that area would be fatal. But I was going uphill. I did start thinking about the effect of getting hit by a car entering one's lane while on the edge of some of those cliffs. Oh what fun. And while I was still pondering this a bit a while later I passed a couple guys in an old honda that had blown a head gasket. So I gave them a ride to Tumwater which is just south of Olympia and got the motel and got my laundry done. I'll get my supplies here then head back into the wilderness and camp a day or two or five. Maybe seven. Seven. Perhaps. Likely one.
