Cadillac Ranch - Amarillo, TX

September 22st, 2005

Well, I made it to a gas station this morning without running out of gas. Gas prices are going back up and I'm finding that low octane stuff again so I'm buying "plus" gas again to keep the octane at least 87 (the plus is 88).

More town excursions on the "Historic 66" which, as the photos show, is largely now defunct businesses once gas stations, cafes and motels.

I made it up in time for the sunrise this morning. The sun got up late. So close to being to the new time zone and all.

So I trucked on up to Taos up in the high elevations again. I'm still pretty much on the original schedule. (Originally planned Santa Fe but wanted to get north to Taos if I could. I did, making it in good time. I came up on 518 from Las Vegas, NM which was a beautiful trek through the mountains in the early evening dusk.
