I'm probably scrapping the Grand Canyon plan at the end and I'll go back next year when I have more than a day. That frees up some time so I can be a bit more leisurely in my daily checkpoints.
Today I visited (briefly) Old Salem, NC. It was quaint but after Williamsburg I was a bit spent for the interpreted historic site. So I went, saw, and moved on to Chimney Rock. This led me through the Blue Ridge mountains and I took the time to do a pretty good hike and cooked out on the way back down the hill.
Here is today's data!
Total miles: 245
Overall Average MPG : 26.73
MPG Based on: 245 miles from Burlington, NC to Asheville, NC via Chimney Rock; 9.167 gallons
A bit less MPG today because of the back country roads to chimney rock and hill climbing.
